The Buck Does Stop Here

I was half-expecting the potential auditor to show up at the first class because permission had been ultimately granted by my chair. I had not heard anything back from either the chair or my supervisor. My supervisor was also expecting my chair to pose a problem. At some point in time, I will be the final word but at the moment, there are two people who could possibly overrule me and neither one was saying anything.

Until orientation, when the chair introduced me as a specialist in Russian and Czech literature who had just "successfully dealt with the most obnoxious external auditor of all time. Brava!"

I relaxed a bit knowing that there would be no surprises in class that day.
