When a chair of a department accuses all of the graduate students of apathy because they failed to attend an informal meeting with a job candidate and then didn't go to the same candidate's talk, when, in fact, none of them knew anything about the informal meeting nor had they any idea that the talk was a job talk, do you get to call the chair on it?
