As I walked over to the library I was wondering what the topic for today's entry would be. I was stumped until I walked into my carrel and noticed that the last few volumes of Sovremmenye zapiski (Contemporary Notes) that I had been illegally hoarding were gone. There was no note or librarian waiting to scold me, just an empty desk corner to greet me. The unchecked-out book that I had accidentally forgotten to bring downstairs with me on Wednesday is still here, though. I guess that to avoid the journal-recall fairies from here on out I can either a) only fetch as many volumes as I can use in a day or b) hide the unused journals in the stacks. I suppose that I'll give the former a try before resorting to the latter. Library (rightly): 1; me: 0. -Zh.
