For Valentine's Day this year, my mom sent K. and I chocolates from what is currently our favorite chocolate place in the world (we haven't been to France...yet...): Fran's. We just finished the chocolate-covered-and-filled figs this evening. The figs sound over the top, but they are delicious: the slightly sour fig complements the richness of the ganache well (I'm beginning to see why good food writing is hard to find). I suppose that we'll now have to work our way through the box of dark chocolates we also received. It's a good thing that Toronto lacks a good chocolate shop, so that we can focus our attention on the Fran's. Or does T.O. have a good chocolatier? Any suggestions? Only, no chains please. -Zh.
