2005 starts in a couple of days and I'm giddy with anticipation because I can make plans that can't be undermined...yet. So far the only definite change to come is my person motto. I've been "a different sort of monkey," (well, I actually still am a different sort of monkey so I'll keep that one) and I've declared, "Dalekáť cesta má! Marné volání!!" (Distant is my path! Futile is my calling!!). That last one, although relevant because it is the phrase associated with Mácha, is counter-productive. So, I'm replacing it with "Making the muse my bitch since 2005" because I'm going to finish my dissertation this year even if it kills me. Or my advisor. -Zh.
