It looks as though Yushchenko (the right Viktor) has won the presidential elections in Ukraine, which means that I don't need to worry about my colleagues who have gone home for the holidays tangling with police during demonstrations.

This is great because, although K. and I are 99.99999% certain that our friends travelling to Sri Lanka on Christmas Eve were re-routed before ever entering harm's way, we can worry about them. -Zh.
