Czech Alert

About a week ago D. of D. and B. fame sent my a link to an on-line exhibit of Czech book covers. Since he didn't bother to mention that these book covers were from the 1920s and 1930s, I didn't bother to visit until today. I really don't need to see a bunch of book covers for The Grandmother. I haven't read the essays yet but the covers are wonderful and I'm happy to see the work of men I've gotten to know and love over the past year: a cover for Honzl's Modern Russian Theatre by Karel Teige (whom I appreciate but will never love), a Burian cover, and a cover for ReD. My favourite so far, though, is a Czech edition of a Russian work: All hail Maiakovskii. -Zh.
