RIP

Julia Child is dead. My one Julia Child anecdote is second-hand. One of my my committee members at the University of Washington gave a talk about the Balkans at a Rotary Club luncheon. He shared the program with a cook-off between Graham Kerr, who is now into low-fat cooking devotee and Julia Child, who was all about the fat. He told his family back home about it. They had no idea what his job as a history professor involves, so to this day, when people ask about his accomplishments, his family doesn't talk about his books, his articles, the number of graduate students he's supervised, they talk about how he shared the program at a Rotary Club luncheon with Julia Child. -Zh.
