In case you, like me, live in a hole, the Oscar nominations were announced yesterday. Once again, the technically competent, narratively linear, morally didactic, and easily digestible shall be honoured. Due to injustices much closer to home, I haven't payed attention to the Oscars for the past couple of years, but if you're upset, you could go play with the BFI's Top Ten List. The actual list isn't so interesting (and I still don't get the fuss over 2001: A Space Odyssey) but it's fun to go through everyone's top ten list (So far I haven't found anyone who includes Aleksandr Dovzhenko's Earth or Dziga Vertov's Man with a Movie Camera in their personal lists. Losers!) or you could go check out the nominees for this year's Razzies. -Zh.
