My Life in 191 of (approx.) 250 Words

I've since made the transition from graduate student to professor. Here's where the cynicism kicks in. Of course I want to publish, supposedly in order to expand the breadth and depth of the Anglo-American understanding of Russian literature and culture, while in reality, I want to publish to gain some job security. It all reminds me of one of my former professors, who went home to Croatia for a visit. She was telling her friends about how much she had published, because here everything is measured in pages, when one of them interrupted her, "But is any of it good?" -Zh.
